Perspectivas de recuperación de la economía tras la tercera ola

El PIB sufrió en 2020 un descenso histórico del 11 % como consecuencia dela pandemia, aunque el impacto fue muy desigual por sectores. Tras la caída sufrida en los dos primeros trimestres del año, en el tercero se produjo una notable recuperación, pero esta apenas tuvo continuidad en el cuarto. En cuanto al inicio del ejercicio actual, los indicadores disponibles, especialmente los de empleo, apuntan a una recaída. La evolución de la pandemia, tanto en España como en el resto de países europeos, unida a la lenta marcha en el proceso de vacunación, alejan la posibilidad de una recuperación significativa y sostenida hasta, al menos, la llegada del verano.

Even though the IHS Markit Composite Output Index of the Eurozone demonstrated a slower rate of contraction, shifting from 47,8 in January to 48,8 in February, the indicator remains below the no-change mark of 50 for the fourth consecutive month. In addition, the latest data suggests a sustained two-speed economy with a manufacturing and service sector that keep moving further apart.
