En este trabajo se analizan los diferentes modelos utilizados en los últimos años en el impuesto sobre la renta en relación con el tratamiento de la familia, se compara la situación tributaria de cinco grupos de contribuyentes en tres años claves (1979, 1998 y 1999) y se examina el régimen aplicable en los otros países dela Unión Europea. En especial, se hace un análisis crítico de la deducción por hijos en la cuota del impuesto vigente hasta 1998.

This study analyzes the different models used in income tax in the last few years in relation to the treatment of the family. The tax situation of five groups of taxpayers is compared in three key years (1979, 1998 and 1999) and the regime applicable in other European Union countries is examined. In particular, a critical analysis is carried out of the deduction for children that may be made from the total tax liability.
