Convergencia productiva de la economia asturiana

En este artículo se estudia la evolución del sistema productivo asturiano, en relación con la media nacional y con el resto de comunidades, durante los años 2000-2006, último período en el que Asturias tiene la consideración de región objetivo 1. Durante dicho período esta comunidad se benefició de importantes fondos de la UE que, junto con otros estatales, contribuyeron a corregir desequilibrios estructurales que condicionaban su crecimiento. Durante el período de referencia, la región experimentó importantes avances en la eficiencia productiva de la mayoría de sus ramas. Estos avances le permitieron ser una de las dos únicas regiones objetivo 1 que superó la productividad media nacional y consiguió mejorar el nivel de competitividad de su sistema productivo. El análisis realizado también pone de relieve la existencia de sectores muy ineficientes y con serios problemas de viabilidad a medio y largo plazo.

In this article we study the development of the production system in Asturias compared with the national average and the rest of the autonomous communities over the years 2000- 2006, the last period in which Asturias had Objective 1 region status. During that period this autonomous community benefited from substantial EU funds, which, along with other state aid, contributed to correcting the structural imbalances that were restricting its growth. During the period in question the region achieved considerable advances in the productive efficiency of most of its branches. These advances enabled it to become one of the only two Objective 1 regions that exceeded the national average productivity and succeeded in upgrading the level of competitiveness of its productive system. That analysis also underlines the existence of extremely inefficient sectors with serious problems of medium and long term feasibility.
