The 2012 labor reform was a necessary first step to address the inefficiencies of the Spanish labor market, but further efforts need to be taken to boost productivity, reduce temporary work and improve active labor market policies.
The creation of the temporary contract in 1984 has given rise to one of the most important problems of Spain’s labor market today - duality. Several recent reforms have tried to address this issue, including the latest in February 2012, however unsuccessfully.

Con el objetivo de hacer más flexible el mercado laboral, el Gobierno español ha lanzado recientemente la propuesta de fomentar el trabajo a tiempo parcial; sin embargo, el éxito o el fracaso de dicha propuesta dependerá de como se perciba este tipo de contrato.
