About the Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee and the Madrid meeting:

Following the example of the U.S. Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee a group of European professors and other independent experts in the fields of economics, finance, law and the regulation of financial institutions and markets set up the European Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee (ESFRC). The ESFRC had its inaugural meeting in Brussels in March 1998, during which the Committee had a working lunch with European Commissioner Mario Monti. Since then, 44 statements have been issued (see section on “Statements”).
