«Financial education: international evidence on what students know, what shapes their skills, and what works in the classroom»
SEMINAR
9 de julio de 2026
12:30-14:30 h
This seminar, organised by Funcas, brings together international evidence on young people’s financial literacy and on the policies designed to strengthen it. Drawing on the PISA 2022 financial literacy assessment and the OECD Skills Outlook 2025, it examines how 15-year-olds perform, how their skills and confidence are shaped by their background, and what recent research tells us about the most effective ways to teach financial education.
The seminar combines an international diagnosis with experimental evidence from the classroom. It looks at the role of parents, socio-economic background and gender in students’ financial competence and confidence, and presents findings from randomized controlled trials evaluating financial education programmes in schools, including the contribution of teachers and the conditions under which these interventions work best. It closes with a discussion of the avenues available to strengthen financial education going forward.
