El presente trabajo versa sobre el papel del Estado, y su política agraria, en la modernización de la agricultura española durante el siglo XX. Comienza con una breve introducción sobre la evolución del sector y la creciente intervención estatal en el primer tercio delsiglo. Se destaca la crisis agraria de los años cuarenta, vinculada, en buena medida, a la nefasta políticaagraria del primer franquismo. Analiza el proceso de recuperación y modernización del campo español en las décadas de los cincuenta y sesenta, y concluye con unaserie de reflexiones sobre la actual situación del campo español.

This paper looks into the role of the government, of the agricultural policy, in the modernisation of the Spanish agriculture over the XX century. If first gives a brief introduction about the developmentof the sector and the increasing government intervention in the first part of the century. It highlights the agricultural crisis of the 40's related, to a great extent, to the dreadful agricultural policy of the first framquism. It then analyses the process of recoveryand modernisation of the land in Spain in the 50's and 60's, to finish with a series of reflections about the current state of the Spanish land.
