Este artículo revisa la evolución de la convegencia en los niveles de PIB per cápita entre las regiones españolas y los movimientos migratorios en el período 1962-1994. Se sugiere que la interrupción del proceso de convergencia que se produce a partir de 1979 puede, en parte, atribuirse a la atenuación de las migraciones interregionales, siendo el aumento en la tasa de paro en las tradicionales regiones de destino una posible causa del estancamiento de las migraciones y de la convergencia.

This article reviews the evolution of the convergency in the levels of the GDP per capita of the spanish regions and the evolution of the migratory movements for the period 1962-1994. Suggets the idea thatthe interruption of the convergency process that takes place from 1979 can in part be atributed to the reduction of the interregional migrations, being the increase of the unemployment rate in the traditional host regions a possible explanatory cause of the stagnation of both processes: the migrations and the convergency.
